VOO Outage Right Now: How to Check and What to Do

VOO outage right now? Where to check network status, the 078 50 50 50 line, how to read the modem lights, who to call since the Orange takeover and when compensation is due. Checked on 30 October 2026.

To find out whether VOO has an outage right now, call 078 50 50 50 or message the WhatsApp assistant, then plug a computer into the modem with a cable: if nothing works and the Online light stays off, the fault is on the line and not in your Wi-Fi. Checked on 30 October 2026.

Where can you check for a VOO outage at your address?

To our knowledge, there is no official VOO outage map by address. Four channels exist all the same, and they are not equal.

  • The phone, 078 50 50 50. Technical support answers from 8:30 to 21:30 on weekdays and from 9:00 to 21:30 on weekends and public holidays (checked on 13 October 2026). Calls are free from a VOO line, at the local rate otherwise.
  • WhatsApp, +32 455 18 34 47. A virtual assistant answers 24 hours a day, an adviser during the day.
  • The myVOO app and Messenger, with the same assistant.
  • The VOO forum. Useful for reading your neighbours. But VOO itself points out that it is a community space without customer support.

The 078 answering service should in principle announce an intervention in your area. During the outage of 2 July 2025, however, one subscriber heard only hold music. So do not rely on it alone. As for sites showing a "live status" for VOO, they aggregate reports from internet users: a spike points to a probable problem, never to a certainty.

VOO or Orange: who do you call when the line drops?

Your contract decides, not the logo on the modem.

Orange Belgium absorbed VOO on 1 October 2025. The migration of customers was due to finish by mid-2026 according to L'Avenir, by the end of 2026 according to Test-Achats (the Belgian consumer organisation). Customer service has been taken over by Orange, but the VOO catalogue was still open on 2 October 2026, with 43 subscriptions on sale according to a CallMePower survey.

Network and ownership: the European Commission cleared the takeover of VOO and Brutélé on 20 March 2023, on condition that Telenet gets access to this fixed network for at least ten years.

What do the VOO modem lights mean?

Four lights tell the story of the connection: Power, DS, US and Online. DS stands for downstream, US for upstream.

After a restart the lights come on in four stages, Power, DS, US and then Online, and the modem can take several minutes to be operational again. Be patient.

Cable modem and coaxial socket in a bright Belgian interior
On the former VOO network the signal arrives over coaxial cable: socket, cable and amplifier are the first suspects.

What should you do before calling technical support?

Six steps, in this order, because a restart erases the best evidence.

  1. Note the start time and the state of the lights, with a photo if possible.
  2. Plug a computer in over Ethernet and switch its Wi-Fi off. Nothing works: the line is at fault.
  3. Check the power supply and the coaxial cable, screwed in tight, plus the VOO amplifier if one is installed.
  4. Switch the modem off for 30 seconds, switch it back on, wait several minutes.
  5. Ask a neighbour on the same network. If they are not affected, the fault probably lies in your own installation.
  6. Call with your notes and write down the ticket number.

Does a VOO outage entitle you to compensation?

Yes, but only if the interruption is total, lasts at least eight hours and affects several customers.

The legal scale, in force since 1 November 2024 and restated by the IBPT (Belgian Institute for Postal Services and Telecommunications), gives 1 € at eight hours, 2 € at twenty-four hours, then 0.50 € per extra day. If one thirtieth of the monthly subscription exceeds that amount, it applies instead. We worked it out on the two price levels recorded in our July 2026 VOO review, to be checked against your invoice.

Subscription (July 2026 price)One thirtieth8-hour outage24-hour outage
Rapide, 200 Mbps, about 55 € a month1.83 €1.83 €2.00 €
Giga, up to 1 Gbps, about 71 € a month2.37 €2.37 €2.37 €

Calculation by Nicolas. Operators do not all read the floor the same way: get the amount confirmed in writing. The six exclusions are detailed in our guide to internet outages and compensation.

A cut that only hits your own home, say a cable torn up in the driveway, gives no right to this scale, since several customers must be affected.

How long does a VOO outage last?

Only one dated account circulates on the VOO forum, and it is instructive. For the outage of 2 July 2025, the subscriber notes a start at 5 pm, an end at 8 pm, a first VOO announcement at 8:18 pm and a resolution message the next day at 7:29 am. Three hours without service, then, but three hours and eighteen minutes before the first official word, and well under the eight-hour threshold that opens the right to compensation.

Former VOO network: Wallonia yes, Brussels in part, Flanders no

The former VOO cable network covers Wallonia and part of Brussels. It does not exist in Flanders.

RegionFormer VOO networkFTTH (mid-2026, order of magnitude)Where to look for the outage
WalloniaYes, coaxial cable≈ 44%VOO or Orange depending on your contract
BrusselsIn part of the region≈ 78%VOO or Orange if you have the cable, otherwise your fibre operator
FlandersNo≈ 71%Telenet or Proximus, see our Proximus guide

Fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) figures move from one source to another. The IBPT coverage atlas is the reference for your street.

VOO outage on TV or the landline: does the fix change?

A little. For TV, check the coaxial cable and the amplifier, then leave the set-top box off for a minute. The landline runs through the modem: check it is plugged into the "Voice1" socket and restart the modem. If only the TV fails, the line is not at fault.

What if VOO outages keep happening?

Three remedies, in order. A written complaint to the operator, with dates, times and ticket numbers. Then the Telecommunications Ombudsman Service, free of charge, which can recommend termination without fees after repeated failures. Finally, leaving: after six months of contract, Belgian law lets you cancel without giving a reason, and our guide to cancelling and switching provider walks you through it.

Frequently asked questions

Call technical support on 078 50 50 50 or message the WhatsApp assistant at +32 455 18 34 47, available 24 hours a day. Then plug a computer into the modem with an Ethernet cable. If nothing works over the cable, the line is at fault. If it works, your Wi-Fi is the problem.

Not to our knowledge, as of 30 October 2026. Websites showing a live status aggregate reports from internet users. A spike in reports suggests a problem, it does not prove one. Official information comes through the 078 answering service, the myVOO app and VOO's social media accounts.

078 50 50 50, which is not a free number: calls are free from a VOO line and charged at the local rate otherwise. Technical support answers from 8:30 to 21:30 on weekdays and from 9:00 to 21:30 on weekends and public holidays (hours checked on 13 October 2026, to be reconfirmed since Orange took over).

Read the Power, DS, US and Online lights before touching anything. Then check the power cable, the coaxial cable and the amplifier if you have one. Switch the modem off for 30 seconds, switch it back on and give it several minutes to reconnect. If the Online light stays off, call technical support.

Almost. Check the coaxial cable and the VOO amplifier if one is installed, then restart the set-top box by leaving it off for a minute. If the TV does not come back while the internet works, the fault lies with the box or its connection, not with the line.

No, it is a Wi-Fi problem, not a network one. Your subscription works, so no compensation will be due. Check the light under the modem's Wi-Fi button, change band or channel, then read our guide on slow internet.

Yes, if it is total and affects several customers, but the amount is small: 2 € for 24 hours, or 2.37 € on a 71 € plan. The claim must be made within thirty days of the end of the outage, and it is wise to report it even when compensation looks automatic.

Orange. According to the official moderators of the VOO forum, an Orange customer goes through Orange for any outage information. If your invoice still carries the VOO name, call VOO. When in doubt, the operator named on your latest invoice is the one to contact.
